FEATURING
WAN CHI MING HUNG GAR INSTITUTE'S
DRAGON AND LION DANCE TEAM

As summer unfolds over our valleys and hills with a joyful riot of color, Close Encounters With Music provides an opportunity to interact with nature and sculpture and enjoy music and dance performances, beautiful vistas, a sumptuous cocktail reception, and an exciting auction.

The Summer Solstice Celebration and Auction will take place on the estate of Stanley Cohen, on a bucolic hilltop of Copake, NY- bordering MA and with stunning views of three states. Cohen, at one time the attorney for Alexander Calder and a collector of major art works, joined the board of Close Encounters With Music in 2016 and immediately hosted a Zen Tea Party together with Carrie Chen, owner of Casana T House in Hillsdale, that was attended by close to 200 guests.

Dancers from the Wan Chi Ming Hung Gar Institute, a Lion Dance and Martial Arts troupe located in Manhattan's Chinatown, will perform traditional Chinese Dragon and Lion dances. The Institute, dedicated to preserving and promulgating Chinese culture and folk art through education and presentation, has had appearances at Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus, MTV, Caesars Boardwalk Regency, Town Hall (NYC), American Museum of Natural History, Gracie Mansion, the Bermuda Festival and Lincoln Center.

Scheduled to optimize viewing the beauty of sunset as the dancers thread their way across the hills in a dramatic traditional Dragon Dance, the Solstice party takes place between 4 and 7 PM. The Auction to benefit Close Encounters With Music's programs will include sought-after products, popular restaurant and store gift cards, luxury services, fine art and craft objects, tickets to an assortment of performance venues and more.
